College Life

This is the face I want to make sometimes in class or during a test.  I actually taped this picture to the back of my agenda planner to make me feel better if I didn't understand something.  I'm not joking!! :-) bill and ted are bodaciously awesome.

UVM people and places

It's hard not to talk about college when I talk to you because.. it is life.  It's home, work, school, friends, here at least.  Why do I love it here?  Well it's a medium sized school, about 8,000 undergraduates, it's a peaceful place to be - people are very trusting and there isn't too much crime.  On 9/11 I felt alienated but very safe here.  There are hippies and environmentalists, but of course there's every other type of person as well.  What's unique about life here is the emphasis on being an individual.  There is not just one view of normality or concrete expectation to act a certain way to fit in.   There is hardly any racial diversity here, but a lot of people wish there was.  Gays and lesbians can be who they want to be and have a safe place here.  It's just very comfortable.  Burlington is a large town - it is sort of a village-like setting downtown with a pedestrian street that includes cute shops as well as well-known stores, restaurants and arts.  Lake Champlain is within walking distance and is so pretty - since I am up on the 4th floor of my building I can actually see the lake from my bed.  To the west is New York, and upstream to the North is Canada.  Anyway, it's nice to be somewhere else to find a niche in an entirely new atmosphere.  This is my life now.  It won't be the same in 3 or 4 years, which makes it special.  As I grow older, I'm glad to see new places and see new things.  Here I have shoutouts to some of my friends here as well as some pictures - both from last year and this year :-)

Rori (Rorsicle) - You're so much fun and you're such a great friend (and roomate!!) Remember the rave, fun times.. Liquid energy, hockey games, paintball, broomball, snow angels, flipping off lofts, watching the same movies over and over again, haha.. Having a class together was so much fun.  I'm so happy for you and your year in England.  Have fun!!

Ashley - Hey, girl! It's great that we have gotten a chance to hang out this summer and party it up - so nice to party without academic stress.  You and your friends are bundles of fun - I hope we get to hang out more often!

Jessie - It's nice that we've gotten to know each other better.  i'm still so proud that we went on our 20 mile bike ride adventure.  I didn't even know bike ferries existed! We must go again sometime.. and blueberry picking, too!

Nicole - I'm glad I met you last year - You're always truthful and willing to help someone else.  You're apartment is a great place to get together - sorry about those mugs breaking from the beer pong!  Your sister is crazy but she's fun too, haha.

Miro - I don't even know. You and your Biology and your deer dance, you just are so funny when you don't even try to be.  You are a nice guy and you will meet someone special soon.  You need to hang out with us more often, we love having you around

Ryan - Our random get-togethers are fun.  remember cranium last year and uhh - let me try to open that labatt for half an hour when jesse has a bottle opener - haha.;  you are such a weird person but you have a great sense of humor!

Resizing this picture screwed it up, so I left it big.  I like it, I'm completely ... gone.. and Ashley is having fun

heh.. so Erica came up to visit me from UCONN on the weekend of 4/20 (there are more incriminating pictures, but they aren't suitable for the web).  Anyway, we were walking back from redstone campus and we saw this sign outside the library.  You see, as an alternative to protesting the legalization of marijuana at 4:20 pm, UVM sponsored this drug-free "spring fest" with bands and food.  They searched bags and shit, too for pot.. anyway, so that's where this sign is from.. at the time it was hilarious when we dragged it up 4 flights of stairs into my tiny dorm room.  Here's Rori next to the stolen sign =)
